Lithium, Calcium and Ca/Li Soap Greases

Grease is the highest-margin line most lubricant distributors carry and the one most of them under-invest in. A tub sits on a shelf for months rather than days, the buyer is loyal to a colour and a feel, and the price per kilo bears very little relationship to the cost per kilo. It is also, from a private label standpoint, the easiest place to start: packaging is a plain tub and a wrap label, and the entry volume is a fraction of what an engine oil line requires.

Our grease range is built around four soap types covering four temperature bands and four distinct applications — from a lithium multipurpose grease rated to +135 °C down to a calcium cup grease for chassis points. Each is available in NLGI grades 2 and 3, packed in 1 kg, 4 kg and 15 kg tubs and 180 kg drums. Colour is a deliberate part of the specification: workshops identify grease by sight, so we hold the colour consistent from batch to batch.

01. Lithium Multipurpose — GOLD GREASE

Lithium soap based, operating from −25 °C to +135 °C, with a dropping point of 180 °C and oxidation inhibitors plus rust preventives. NLGI 2 (265/295 penetration) and NLGI 3 (220/250), yellow. Recommended for roller and plain bearings, bushings and pins under normal operating conditions, with reduced wear under heavy load, resistance to water washout and extended bearing life in wet environments. Pumpable through central lubrication systems.

02. Calcium/Lithium White — SUPERIOR GREASE

A calcium-plus-lithium soap grease for applications up to +100 °C, dropping point 120 °C, NLGI 2 and 3, white. Water resistant with excellent rust and corrosion protection, and easily pumpable — suitable for centralised grease systems as well as application by grease cup or gun. The white colour makes it the preferred choice where contamination is visible and matters.

03. Calcium Rubber Grease — GREENMAX

Calcium soap based rubber grease for applications up to 85 °C, dropping point 100 °C, NLGI 2 and 3, dark green. Formulated with special chemicals that adhere well to the lubricated surface, highly resistant to water wash, and therefore standard for chassis lubrication. Good low-temperature pumpability for cold-weather application.

04. Calcium Cup Grease — REDMAX

Calcium soap cup grease for vehicles, work machines and bearings up to 85 °C, dropping point 70 °C, NLGI 3, dyed red specifically to distinguish it from other greases in the workshop. Water-wash resistant, easily pumped in cold weather, and the traditional chassis and general-purpose grade in many of the markets we supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which grease should a new brand launch with?

One lithium multipurpose in NLGI 2 covers the largest share of applications and is where almost every grease brand starts. A calcium chassis grease as the second SKU covers the workshop trade. Four soap types on a shelf from day one usually means three of them sitting still.

2. Can you produce grease in a specific colour?

Colour is part of the formulation rather than an afterthought, and each of our soap types has a natural colour range. Dyed variants are possible within limits — REDMAX is dyed red for exactly this reason. Tell us the colour you need and we will confirm what is achievable in that soap type.

3. What NLGI grades are available?

NLGI 2 and NLGI 3 across the range, with worked penetration of 265/295 and 220/250 respectively. Softer or firmer grades are produced to order.

4. What packaging do you supply grease in?

Plastic tubs in 1 kg, 4 kg and 15 kg, and 180 kg drums. Tub, lid, tamper seal and wrap label are specified with you. Cartridges for grease guns are a common request and are quoted separately.

5. Is the entry volume lower than for oils?

Generally yes. Grease packaging development is simpler and the minimum production batch is smaller, which is why several of our customers use grease as their first private label product and add liquids later once the brand has traction.

6. How should grease be stored?

In sealed containers away from direct sunlight and temperature extremes, ideally below 30 °C. Correctly stored, our greases hold their specification well beyond a typical distribution cycle. Storage guidance and shelf life ship with the technical data sheet.
