Gear oil is a technical sale disguised as a commodity. Put a GL-4 oil into a hypoid differential that needs GL-5 and the axle fails; put a GL-5 into a synchromesh gearbox designed for GL-4 and the yellow-metal synchros corrode. Distributors who get this wrong lose accounts, which is why the specification on the label matters more in this category than the branding around it.

Our range covers all three API gear levels plus automatic transmission fluids to Dexron II and Dexron III performance. Viscosity grades run from SAE 80W through 85W/140 and straight 140, packaged in 1 L, 4 L and 5 L bottles for the counter trade and 208 L drums for workshops and fleets. When you send us an enquiry we will ask what the vehicle parc in your market actually looks like before recommending grades, because the right gear oil line-up in a market running mostly older commercial vehicles is not the same one that works where passenger cars dominate.

01. GL-1 Gear Oils — GEAR Series

SAE 80, 90 and 140 to API GL-1, for gearboxes and differentials in automotive and industrial equipment operating without extreme pressure demands. Does not thicken in service, protects against rust and corrosion by film formation, and stays fluid enough at low temperature for easy shifting. The straightforward, cost-effective grade for light-duty applications.

02. GL-4 EP Gear Oils — GEAR EP Series

SAE 80W, 80W/90 and 85W/140 to API GL-4 and MIL-L-2105, produced by adding extreme-pressure, antirust and antiwear packages to paraffinic base oils. Developed for automotive differentials, spur gears and hypoid gears under moderate conditions — passenger cars, trucks and construction equipment running high-speed low-torque or low-speed high-torque duty cycles.

03. GL-5 Heavy-Duty Gear Oils — GEAR HD Series

SAE 80W/90 and 85W/140 to API GL-5, formulated with qualified mineral base oils and a high-performance EP additive system. Recommended for hypoid and spiral bevel differentials and heavy transmission applications, with extended drain capability, high foam control and leak prevention through stable viscosity at operating temperature.

04. Automatic Transmission Fluids — ATF II and ATF III

ATF II against GM Dexron II, GM Allison C4, MAN 339 Type V1, ZF-TE-ML 02F, 03D, 04D, 14A and 17C, VOITH DIWA G607 and MB 236.1. ATF III against Dexron III, ZF-TE-ML 14, Allison C4, Caterpillar TO-2, VOITH G607, Mercedes-Benz 326.9 and Ford Mercon. High viscosity index, stable friction characteristics, and suitable for power-shift transmissions, torque converters, power steering and hydraulic units.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Should I stock GL-4 or GL-5?

Most markets need both. GL-5 is required for hypoid differentials and heavy axle loads; GL-4 is required for manual synchromesh gearboxes, where a GL-5 additive package can attack bronze and brass components. Selling one as a universal replacement for the other causes warranty claims. We will help you build the right two- or three-product line-up for your parc.

2. Do you produce GL-4/GL-5 dual-rated oils?

Dual-rated products exist in the market but involve real compromises on the additive package. We would rather discuss what your customers actually need than sell a compromise as a convenience — if a dual rating is genuinely the right answer for your market, we will say so.

3. Can you supply ATF for a specific transmission manufacturer?

Our ATF II and ATF III cover the Dexron, Allison, ZF, VOITH, MAN and Mercedes-Benz requirements listed above, which handles the majority of transmissions in the markets we ship to. For proprietary specifications outside this list — newer manufacturer-specific fluids — send us the requirement and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

4. What packaging works best for gear oils?

1 L and 4 L bottles for the counter and workshop trade, 5 L for fleet top-up, and 208 L drums where the buyer is a transmission workshop or a fleet depot. ATF sells predominantly in 1 L. Bottle, cap and label are specified with you before the run.

5. What is the minimum order for a gear oil range?

Minimums are set per grade, so a three-grade launch carries a lower total commitment than the same volume concentrated in one SKU. Most gear oil customers start with an 80W/90 GL-5, an 80W/90 GL-4 and one ATF. Send us your grade list and we will confirm figures.

6. Can you print application guidance on the label?

Yes, and we recommend it. A short application table on the back label — which grade goes where — reduces misapplication and the returns that follow. Our design team prepares this as part of the artwork, in the language your market reads.
